THE MEANING OF BORN AGAIN
Back to CONTENTS

This chapter contains an explanation of how there are "non-Christians" who are born again, since Jesus said it is needful to be born again before one can see, let alone enter the kingdom of God (John 3:3, 5), it follows that being born again generally precedes any conversion to Christianity, though for some it is concurrent.

Jesus went on to say that "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit" (John 3:8) this tells us that the experience of being born again is not a fully conscious event. This chapter explains the element that is conscious and how it happens among the "non-Christians".

This chapter explains the phrase "believe in the name" as found in John 1:12 (and John 3) as it relates to those viewed as believers among "non-Christians": it is shown by the way John used the phrase elsewhere that this is about believing in the character of God, as distinct from a particular title.
